Happy Halloween and The Jamaican Boobsled Team!

Darius and I went to New Castle, Indiana for his high school reunion in late September. I love his home town. Seems like it would have been a great place to grow up.
Happy Halloween! Our apartment threw an insane Halloween party! Free entrance, 5 free drinks, a band, a DJ, magician, and psychic. We were entertained all night! The place was decked out!

Bat girl and a Smarty Pants!

I decided to crew the Susan G. Komen 3 Day this year. It was neat to be on the other side of the walk...it is a totally different experience. As a walker last year I had no idea how much work went into the behind the scenes stuff so that the walkers could have a good experience.
Each of the 3 mornings I was up at 4:15am, met my crew at camp, where we then took a van together to our Pit stop. We were in charge of Pit Stop 1 which is about 2-3 miles into the walk each day. The Pits had country themes this year and we were Jamaica! We put up and broke down the Pit Stop each day because it was at a different location each day. Everything we needed was in the Pit Can which. We put up the western shelters (the pink tents) set up the food and hydration stations, decorated like Jamaica, all before the walkers came at around 7-8am. Usually they were gone by 9:30 and we would clean up and put everything back in the pit can.
Later we would eat lunch, be walker stalkers and cheer them on, head over to cheering stations and cheer more. It was a great experience! Everyone on my crew was awesome!
The Pit Can!

Me and sisters Sheila and Pat. Sheila is from Oregon and Pat is from California. Both are breast cancer survivors! Pat an 8 year survivor and Sheila a 3 year survivor.

Walkers resting! Day 3 I was in charge of giving a sticker to every walker who came to our Pit. Walkers love stickers! Who doesn't?

Our Team! The Jamaican Boobsled Team! Front: Jeff (our Crew Chief), Tanya (our Crew Captain ) Back from left: Sandy, Julie, me, Phyllis, Toby, Pat, Sheila, Ginny, Sandy, and Kady.

Judy made everyone Jamaican Boobsled Team stickers for our shirts.

Go Cubbies!

We all met at Slider's before the Cubbies/Dbacks game and I got Carina, Adam and Anthony hooked on Air Control! It is so addictive! My highest score so far is 104 and I only need to score 21 more points in order to beat Darius!

Air Control! Don't crash!

Sedona and the Grand Canyon!

Darius and I took a weekend trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon on his birthday weekend. The weather was perfect, a nice cool down from the three-digits we are used to! We stayed in Sedona overnight and after walking around a bit uptown, we saw Jonah Hex. Ehhhh. I had higher expectations. We woke up early on Sunday, and made it to the Grand Canyon in time for our 10am Bright Angel Bike Tour. It was awesome! We had our own personal tour guide, which was an accident...he was suppose to guide all 8 of us but we asked him so many questions during the first stop that the others went ahead without us! So he stuck with us and gave us a Grand Canyon education :).

Near Bell Rock and right up the street from our hotel.

Look!

The scenery in Sedona is great! Imagine driving down the road and seeing this everyday!

Ready to go on the bike tour!

Can you see the Colorado River ?

Hermit's Rest is a gift shop and snack bar near the canyon.

The Abyss! He got a little too close to the edge for Darius and me

Dresses, Pottery and Sangria, Oh My!

Yay! Jessie and Jim are getting married! AND Jessie asked Carina and I to be in her wedding!Sooooo...Jessie, Carina and I went to the Bridal Expo in PHX a couple of weekends ago and to David's Bridal a couple of days ago so Jessie could pinpoint the styles she likes. Carina and I are also scoping out bridesmaids dresses in Jessie's color--royal blue!
After David's Bridal, we went to As You Wish to paint some pottery and contemplate the dresses we saw that day. The cool thing is that they allow you to bring your own alcohol! So we sipped Sangria, painted and chatted until the place was ready to close!

We really like this dress! Does it come in royal blue????

At As You Wish....

What color should I paint the baseball gloves...?

Three Sangrias coming right up!

No one talk! We need to concentrate!

He said WHAT???

Say Sangria!
